Oasis Kalix Water Cooler Review

The Kalix is one of the latest water coolers released by Oasis Europe, referred to as a point of use or plumbed in water cooler; the main difference with this dispenser from so many others on the market is the unique pressure vessel (where the water is chilled). A typical arrangement for a plumbed in water coolers is a reservoir and cooling jacket, with a float valve that shuts off the supply when the required fill level is achieved. kalix water cooler Dispense is by gravity and air with taps located below reservoir.
The Pressure Vessel fitted in the Kalix is directly inline with the mains supply and uses water pressure to dispense; this design has some advantages over the typical arrangement above.
  •  Direct chill technology saves energy due to added efficiency.
  •  The Vessel is a sealed unit so reduces the chance of a leak
  •  Vessel is sealed from the environment. Air doesn’t come into contact with water making it ideal in environments with dusty or polluted air.
This is not a brand new technology from oasis as they have supplied products in the past fitted with vessels, although there were problems with high pressure spikes and overspray when dispensing from taps. Oasis have now cured this problem in the Kalix by using a solenoid to regulate dispense of water. At the touch of a button you now get a consistent flow.
Oasis have cased the Kalix with ABS moulded plastic panels, this is UV and fire resistant. Although different to the usual Polycarbonate Cabinets which are used in most of the existing range and renowned for resisting impact. The Kalix has yet to prove how well its ABS panels will clean up and resist dents and scratches long-term in a harsh environment. The design certainly looks attractive and modern. Oasis has accommodated enough clearance to fill most bottles or jugs. The drip tray can be easily modified to run to a waste pipe or bottle if required. There is also the option for integral cup dispenser. There is also plenty of room for fitting a filter system of your choice. kalix cup dispenser
All connections used throughout are food grade John Guest, which are of the best quality, to NSF standard. Kalix is also WRAS approved which is now a requirement when fitting in schools.
